If you want to be a successful net player, it all starts by hitting a solid approach shot. In today’s lesson, Brady demonstrates how and where to hit your approach.
As a fair comparison my 2nd paragraph should have said:
A heavy topspin approach down the line to a recreational player will more often than not end up in the wheel house of the opponent that’s conducive for a heavy topspin passing shot that is dipping over the net at high speed requiring a difficult pop up volley back over the net or a top spin lob that is high and dipping down quickly requiring a difficult to time overhead.
From my experience at the recreational a deep heavy slice down the line is more difficult to return because the low & backspin bounce prevents an aggressive low to high top spin stroke to pass. The low risk reply to this approach is a slice passing shot which is easy to volley because it’s slow & rising over the net or a slice lob which is easy to smash.
