One of the toughest serves to return is the wide serve on the deuce side. In today’s lesson, Brady demonstrates how to effectively return this serve with authority.
Work well for doubles too – away from the net person!
Lefty that plays duece side, agree on closed stance though I play well inside service line to cutoff the angles and take the ball off the bounce.
First two points are good. You have to go directly to the ball, most likely at an angle, but you should never hit the return cross court. That’s where your opponent should be standing, especially if they come to the net. The only choice you have is to hit the ball down line. Practice that every day! Both sides of the court.
Down the line is a gutsy play. Much higher chance of an error and you’re way out of position. You have to get all the way to the add court before your opponent hits the ball. With a crooscourt shot you just have to get closer to the middle, still on the deuce side, for your next split step.
