Have you ever been coached to always make contact at waist level? Hitting at waist level is definitely not a bad contact point, but the game is changing. Get Brady’s thoughts on this in today’s lesson.

Much appreciated Jan!
So well explained! Love your videos
Thanks Wan–best of luck with your game!
If you can see the stroke coming is going to result in a high bounce, wouldn’t a more aggressive move be to move up and hit it on the rise or short-hop it, rather than wait to hit it at shoulder level?
Depends, it’s all situational. Some shots don’t ever get above your shoulders, while others you might not have time to move aggressively on them. I’ve done tons of lessons on hitting on the rise in the past. Thanks for commenting Frank!
Good. Thanks.
Happy to help Archie!
When I hear ‘waist level is the ideal’ I’m bothered by the insistence on a cookie cutter view. There’s no allowance for individuality of style and physiology – for example, I’d say that I hit my most powerful forehands when the contact point is barely above knee level.
The forehand strike zone is definitely bigger than it used to be!
