In doubles each player has certain responsibilities in every point they play. In today’s lesson, Brady demonstrates the 3 main jobs of the returner position.
Priority # 0 is to get the ball back over the net and into the court. Sometimes the best chance of that is to hit at extremes of the net opponent’s range
In senior doubles at 3.5 level the shorter angled return can be quite effective given server’s restricted mobility
Short angled returns are great. Nice work Richard!
like your priorities++++
Appreciate that Richard!
It is such an important lesson. Consistency in gaining position and getting the return serve deep.
Thanks for watching Dottie!
Who covers the lob? My experience has been if my team can’t win the point in three shots. The fourth shot will be a lob.
That’s a whole lesson in itself. The short answer is a) the net player if they can hit an overhead, then b) their partner via switching.
Clear and useful
Thank you Jens!
