A slice backhand can be a great tool to counter an opponent hitting with extreme pace. In today’s lesson, Brady demonstrates why hitting with backspin is especially useful off the backhand wing.

Brady…. another very useful video. I have been watching your youtube’s for several years and I appreciate the work and explanation that you put into these tennis instructions. You make it look alot easier than it appears but you get your point across to me and several of my friends. Keep it up and will continue to look forward to more video’s in the coming months. The best

Appreciate that John. Tennis isn’t easy but I try and make it as simple and fun as possible! More videos on the way…

Its not easy but definitely doable to a point that you can be more consistent than your opponent…and that’s all that matters.

Nice! Love that slice. It seems that players these days don’t value it as much like we did a few years ago. Get lots of negative comments when I use it. Good; fun to use on the forehand and backhand to generate their errors and disrupt their topspin rhythm. Glad to see that you are not embarrassed to advocate it! Really enjoy your videos, Jeff

Federer uses it quite a bit and he seems to being doing just fine! Thanks Jeff.

Not the easiest shot but if this is occurring you’re simply opening your racket face too much.

Very helpful. Sometimes when I do a slice backhand from the ad court and aiming straightish it has a spin or a slight left instead of straight.
Also I can do a slice from the backhand but still can’t do a slice from my forehand.
Also I find returning a slice better if I get down low.

A forehand slice is not really a necessary shot in the game…don’t worry about it. Put more time into your backhand slice and it will pay off.

Good ideas, Brady. Thanks. Handling high pace hits to my backhand has been one of my weaknesses. This helps.

Happy to help Bob! Don’t be afraid to use slice mainly on the BACKHAND side when under duress.
